Ingredients
800g frozen crinkle-cut chips, cooked as per packet instructions
275g ball of mozzarella, cubed
Gravy
80g unsalted butter
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 rashers of bacon, chopped
4 sprigs of thyme, leaves picked
1 ½ tbsp plain flour
½ tsp beef stock powder dissolved into 500ml water
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Method
Melt butter in a saucepan over a medium heat. Add onion, bacon, garlic and cook slowly 2-4 minutes to soften and caramelise.
Whisk in the flour, then little by little whisk in then add the beef stock. Bring to the boil until thick and rich. Add the thyme and Worcestershire sauce and stir through.
Place hot chips into bowls, top with half the cheese, followed by a generous drizzle of gravy and more cheese.
