Warm Berry and Dark Chocolate Crumbles

Ingredients

For the Filling

2½ cups frozen mixed berries

2-3 Medjool dates, finely chopped 

1 tsp vanilla extract

Zest of ½ an orange 

40g dark chocolate (70-85%), chopped (or use dark choc chips)

For the Crumble

½ cup rolled oats

⅓ cup almond meal

2 tbsp chopped nuts (e.g. almonds, pecans or hazelnuts)

1 tbsp chia seeds or flaxseeds 

¼ tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey

Greek yoghurt, to serve

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C (fan-force).

In a bowl, toss the berries with chopped dates, vanilla, and orange zest. Spoon into 4 greased ramekins or a small baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped dark chocolate evenly over the berries.

In another bowl, mix oats, almond meal, nuts, seeds, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in olive oil and maple until it comes together in a crumbly texture.

Top each ramekin generously with crumble. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Warm, with a dollop of Greek yoghurt.
