Cook Time 30 minutes plus chilling time

Makes 24

Ingredients

For the base

100g dark chocolate

100g milk chocolate

40g unsalted butter

395g tin of sweetened condensed milk

250g pack of malted milk biscuits

100g crushed Maltesers

100g whole Maltesers

90g chopped dates

3 tbsp malted milk powder (or Horlicks powder)

Chocolate topping

100g milk chocolate

100g dark chocolate

20g butter

Maltesers

Malted milk powder, to dust

Method

For the base, melt both dark and milk chocolates and butter together, add in the tin of condensed milk and stir well. Place the biscuits in a bag and start to break them up with a rolling pin. Then add crushed Maltesers and continue crushing.

Add the crushed mixture to the melted chocolate along with whole Maltesers and the chopped dates. Mix well, then add the malted milk powder, again mixing thoroughly.

Line a 28cm x 20cm baking tray with baking paper. Tip into a lined tray and press out to fill edges, using a spatula to level out the surface. Place into the fridge to set.

To finish, place both dark and milk chocolate and butter in a bowl and melt them together. Pour over the surface and tap to flatten. Dot Maltesers over the surface, then place them into the fridge to set.

When ready to serve, cut into squares and then sprinkle with malted milk powder.
