Ellie Studd
Ellie Studd is a cheese expert, author and passionate advocate for artisan cheese. For the past decade, she has worked alongside her father Will Studd and brother Sam, travelling the world to work with respected cheesemakers and to taste, source and hand-select traditional cheeses for the Selected by Will Studd range in Australia and the USA.
One half of The Studd Siblings, Ellie is co-author of The Best Things in Life Are Cheese, a practical, delicious and slightly cheeky guide to navigating the world of cheese. When Plum approached the siblings to write the book, they knew exactly what they didn’t want to make: another boring, intimidating cheese manual. Instead, they set out to make cheese more approachable, sharing the stories, craft and culture behind different styles while giving readers the confidence to buy, taste, pair, store and serve it well. The book also features more than 70 recipes celebrating cheese in all its oozy glory.
Ellie is one of just three Certified Cheese Professionals (CCPs) in Australia and an inducted member of the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers. Through storytelling, education, events and food media, she continues her family’s legacy of championing artisan cheese, celebrating its craftsmanship and protecting cheeses with a genuine taste of place. She takes good cheese seriously, bringing knowledge, curiosity and plenty of pleasure to the table.
