Juzzy’s Big Mac Burger

Cook Time 20 minutes

Servings 4

Ingredients

800g beef mince

4 burger buns with sesame seeds

¼ iceberg lettuce, shredded

8 slices of American cheese

2 large gherkins, thinly sliced plus 1 tbsp extra finely chopped for sauce

1 white onion, finely chopped plus 1 tbsp extra finely chopped for sauce

Salt and pepper

Sauce

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp tomato sauce

1 tsp American mustard

A splash of Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp white vinegar

Pinch of sweet paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

Method

For the sauce, combine the ingredients, including the extra tablespoon of gherkins and onions.

Season the mince with salt and pepper and combine well. Portion the mince into 8 and form thin round patties in between two sheets of baking paper. These patties should be roughly the size of the burger buns as they will shrink while cooking. Lightly oil on each side.

Heat a flat pan or bbq over a medium-high. Add the patties and cook for one to two minutes. Turn the patties and add the cheese on top. Cover loosely with a lid to help melt the cheese.

Cut the bun into thirds horizontally and toast in another pan. Add the sauce to the base of each bun and tops. Add shredded lettuce followed by the patties, gherkins and onions. Sandwich with top bun.
